A SCARCE .577 (SNIDER) SINGLE-SHOT SPORTING-RIFLE, MODEL 'PATENT', serial no. 11021,
circa 1860, with round 26 1/4in. barrel, (some damage at extreme muzzle), raised matted sighting rib, dovetailed fore-sight, rear-sight of ladder type with three additional folding blades, signature within a rectangular panel near breech (rubbed), unusual flip-open breech of loose Snider form but mounted within a rectangular frame, sprung ejector catch to rear, borderline engraved standing breech, top-tang and bar-action lock, chequered walnut half-stock (chequering rubbed smooth), iron furniture, the whole worn with loss to detail, 46 1/2in. overall, weight approximately, weight approximately 6 1/2lbs.

Other Notes: Unfortunately it has not proved possible to correctly identify the patent used here, but it appears to be a direct conversion of a military type percussion barrel such as a Pattern '53.
